Bushra Nazir

Bushra Nazir CBE has been the headteacher of Plashet School for Girls in East Ham since 1997. She is one of the first Muslim women to become a headteacher of a comprehensive school in the UK. She was named 'Professional of the Year' at the Asian Women of Achievement Awards in 2005 for being 'one of the most inspirational educators in the UK today', became an Honorary Fellow of Queen Mary in 2008, and was named as one of the UK's most powerful Muslim women in 2009.
