Amazing Muslim Women: Nur Jahan

Coming soon to Maslaha Women is an article documenting the extraordinary life of Nur Jahan, the favourite wife of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir and the most famous of all the royal Mughal women.

Much has been written about Nur Jahan, but it is often hard to distinguish fact from fiction as many stories and legends surround her. One legend tells of a military expedition by Nur Jahan to rescue her husband where she rode into battle atop an elephant firing arrows at the enemy! While we may never know if this story is accurate, what we do know is that Nur Jahan was a clever, courageous and beautiful woman who amassed great power and influence and greatly enriched the empire.
