The project aims to bring down the barriers that are currently preventing young women participating in projects in the borough and to find out how existing and future projects can better engage with young women by asking them what they want.

The plan for the future is for a borough wide project, with different activities and events run by different groups in different areas, but with a central hub which connects people and projects and ensures that young women get to have their say.

The Girl Power launch was initiated by a group of young women as part of the Young Muslim Voices: Listen Up Project. The YMV project allows young people to become leaders in their communities and to campaign on issues impacting upon young people today.

The launch for Girl Power will be take place this Thursday April 28, 2010 at 3 Corners Youth Centre, Northampton Rd, London EC1R OUH.
